Where Shilajit is found
Where Shilajit is found
Shilajit (Asphaltum punjabianum) is found in many mountain
ranges of the world, at altitudes between 1000-5000 meters, namely in the
Himalayas and Hindukush beaches of the Indian subcontinent, the Tibet
mountains, Altai mountains and the Caucasus mountains. Visit Best Quality Shilajit in Lahore.
What Shilajit looks
like
The consistency of Shilajit depends on the maturity and
exposure to alternating heat and cold. It varies from a rocky brittle substance
and free flowing to viscous like a resin. The color range varies from yellowish
brown to pitch black, depending on the composition. Depending on its color and
properties, Ayurveda classifies it into four types.
§
'Swarna' Shilajit of yellowish red color
§
Rajat Shilajit of whitish silver color
§
Tamra Shilajit of peacock blue color
§
Lauha Shilajit of black color
Of all four types, black shilajit is most often found and
considered the best. It is only used after it has undergone traditional
purification methods.
Pure Shilajit: How it
is purified
Because it is a humus-like material, it is probably
contaminated with soil, rock items and plant debris at the time of collection.
So it must be purified before consumption. Classically it is purified by a
time-consuming method that produces pure shilajit. Pure shilajit is known as
Surya Tapi Shilajit. Surya Tapi means 'that which is subject to the sun's
rays'.
Shilajit's
ingredients
With this method, the rock particles, soil and other
impurities are first removed by sedimentation by dissolving them in hot water
and allowing the solids to settle on the soil. The humus component is dissolved
in the water, which is then decanted and sieved in an iron vessel and kept
under the sun. In this way, a creamy layer of material collects on the surface
and is then separated. Again the remaining solution is decanted into another
vessel and kept under the sun to collect the next batch of supernatant
material. This process is repeated until it yields the creamy material that
emerges on the surface.
This material, which has been carefully collected, is the
purest form. The texts clearly state that boiling the solution to get the
supernatant material faster can destroy Shilajit's ingredients and reduce their
quality and is therefore contraindicated.
Simple methods to
check the purity of Shilajit
Nowadays there are laboratories that can check and
standardize the different compositions from batch to batch. It is often found
by research that the chemical composition of shilajit collected from different
mountain ranges yields certain similar low molecular weight organic compounds.
The exact composition depends on the flora that is found in
and around the Shilajit mountain ranges. The composition of the beneficial
humus material that is Shilajit will depend on it. However, the presence of
humic acid and fulvic acid among other biomolecules is a common finding and can
be standardized. Try Best Quality Shilajit in Lahore.
